On a white disc 2 1/2 inches (6.35 cm) in diameter a horizontal blue bar 3/8 inch (.95 cm) in width and angled at 60; another blue bar same width and parallel to the angled arm 3/16 inch (.48 cm) apart all within a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) red border.
Red, white and blue are the National colors. The numbers "71" represent the unit's numerical designation.
The shoulder sleeve insignia was approved on 24 July 1943.
